The chocolate eggs have always been with us, but at this time of the year they can be found absolutely everywhere. And why not? They are just the best surprise for the kids and also, a great cheat food.

And speaking about chocolate eggs, Dominika Chmiel, a manager of one of London’s finest gelato shops - Gelupo, may have found the Holy Grail of the chocolate delight. “The supplier which we are working with showed me this beauty and I knew we have to sell it here. It looks and taste incredible,” Chmiel said.

The eggs, produced by Guido Gobino, weight 700 grams and is made from 63% dark chocolate. It is hand painted with white chocolate, colored with edible paint and it’s still available to purchase in the shop.

“I wasn’t sure how many egg we will manage to sell, as it is not that cheap, but it turns out, people are willing to spend a bit more for an amazing treat like this one. I am extremely happy,” Chmiel said.

And for those who do not want to spend that much on one chocolate eggs, the shop offers other variations. Like the mini chocolate eggs, which are mixture of milk chocolate, dark chocolate and gianduja. “We are trying to give to people a big range of products, which they can choose from,” Richard Crampton-Plat, Gelupo’s operation manager said.

Most of the chocolate eggs, nowadays, are sold around Easter. Tradition, which has nothing to to do with religion. In fact the first Easter Egg was made in 19th century, in France. So why can’t we enjoy a nice chocolate egg on a daily basis?

One of the leading chocolate treats company, Kinder, found a way to make this sweet snack more versatile. They made the chocolate egg with surprise - every little kid’s dream.

“We sell Guido Gobino’s eggs, because they go well with the aesthetic of the shop, but there are many more chocolate eggs options, which are as good as this one, although this one is a real treat,” Crampton-Plat said.

So Easter or not, the chocolate egg is here to stay. Cheap or expensive, fancy or not, with or without a toy inside - it will always be the best surprise for the kids and the greatest small treat for adults.
